CommentsThese authors examined four California newspapers’ coverage of farmworkers and pesticides. They found that anti-pesticide sources were most often quoted. They attribute this example of counter-hegemony within a hegemonic discourse (newspapers) to the legitimacy of “professional challengers” such as the United Farmworkers.
